It also provides vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin A and copper.
It is also recognized, anti-inflammatory, stimulating and cholesterol-lowering action (by decrease in blood LDL and increase in HDL).
Bioflavonoids are at the origin of the color of fruits and vegetables. Found in a wide variety of foods, they protect our cells from free radical damage.
Hops have sedative and calming properties, it intervenes against the harmful effects of menopause (hot flashes) thanks to the estrogenic derivatives it contains, it soothes minor digestive disorders such as burns and dyspepsias.
The blackcurrant leaf, used in humans for thousands of years, helps in the fight against joint inflammation.

It is rich in amino acids, flavonoids:

Seven were identified:

  1. myricetin-3-O-rutinoside,
  2. myricetin-3-O-hexoside,
  3. myricetin-3-O-(6"-malonyl)-glucoside,
  4. kaempferol-3-O-glucoside,
  5. quercetin-3-O-rutinoside,
  6. quercetin-3-O-hexoside and myricetin)
  7. anthocyanosides (cyanidin 3-O-glucoside,cyaindin-3-O-rutinoside).

Citric acid plays a central role in the metabolism of living organisms.
It facilitates blood clotting and acts on the production of ATP, in the human respiratory chain (Krebs cycle)
The Krebs cycle, also called the citric acid cycle, is a metabolic pathway present in all aerobic organisms and whose primary function is to oxidize acetyl groups, resulting in particular from the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, to recover energy in the form of eight electrons.

*Potassium sorbate is a food additive used here as a preservative (it is effective in preventing the growth of mold and yeast that can have adverse health effects, especially in children).

A bit of history...
Originally from Asia where it has been used for more than 4000 years for its moisturizing and skin purifying qualities, it has since been cultivated throughout the Mediterranean, but especially in Florida where it was introduced in the 1800s.  A study conducted in the 70s giving it anti-cholesterol properties boosts its consumption.
Blackcurrant, is known since the ancient Greeks and Romans, but it is in the twelfth century that appears the 1st testimony on the therapeutic action of its leaves.
This testimony, from Hildegard of Bingen, recommends use as an ointment, to cure gout. However, the fresh leaf, could also be used, rubbed against insect bites.
