PROPERTIES
Ornithine is a non-essential amino acid naturally present in the body. It plays a central role in the urea cycle that takes place in the liver and transforms ammonia into arginine and then urea, thus ensuring its detoxification.
Under normal circumstances, the body is able to produce this amino acid itself in sufficient quantities, however stress, illness and poor living, but also an overconsumption of acidic foods and / or underconsumption of alkaline foods, overeating in general, can reduce this endogenous production.
Ornithine, intervenes by decreasing the level of ammonia present in the brain and therefore plays an essential role in the regulation of sleep because it is recognized that most insomnia is mainly due to the toxicity of ammonia.
More specifically, it is known that ornithine helps regulate the acid-base balance of the whole organism, that hyperacidity invariably leads to demineralization and that it is one of the main causes of most metabolic diseases. It can also be remembered that Ornithine plays a role in the transformation of fat into energy, the increase of muscle mass, the stimulation of the immune system, wound healing, joint stiffness, erectile dysfunction, the decrease in the production of lactic acid (cramps and muscle recovery).
Rice bran is an anti-caking agent incorporated into the capsules, which ensures the fluidity of the preparation.
A bit of history...
The urea cycle or ornithine cycle is a cycle of biochemical reactions in various animals that produce urea from ammonia.
This is the first metabolic cycle identified as early as 1932 by Krebs and Hensenleit. This cycle takes place in the liver, in periportal hepatocytes.
