L-citrulline is the precursor of arginine, a semi-essential amino acid, it improves its nutritional status. It does not participate in protein synthesis, but promotes it.
Citrulline participates in the urea cycle along with L arginine and L-ornithine. Its presence in blood serum protects low-density lipoproteins (bad cholesterol, preventing their oxidation and the deposition of this cholesterol, generator of atherosclerosis.

It protects HDL (good cholesterol), high-density lipopreoteins allowing the return of cholesterol to the liver and its elimination in the intestine. L-citrulline potentiates the synthesis of nitrous oxide (a blood thinner that prevents arteries from becoming clogged) and a molecule that relaxes vascular tissue.
